Is Jesse more of a boys name or girls name?

We are having a baby boy and we're thinking of names one name is Jesse. My wife thinks it sounds like a girls name. We live in a small farm town and don't like the unique names, we want to stay simple but there are only so many and everyone has one. They say the name should fit your family lifestyle and we are a big sports and rodeo family. What do ya think about jesse?
