What is a aspergers meltdown?

Hi! As far as the behavior is concerned, there isn't any difference between an "Aspgergers' meltdown" and a tantrum, but the motivation might be different. People with Aspergers syndrome frequently have a hard time with all kinds of things: changes, noise, environment, etc. Frequently they may have some sort of communication disorder or some deficits in socialization. A person who has Asperger's syndrome may act out because he cannot get his point across in what we consider an appropriate way, just like a small child has a tantrum. The key is in teaching the person what he may be feeling (like when is is angry about something, say to him "you are angry now" so he can try to start identifying what it is that is going on inside him, and then he must be taught more appropriate ways to handle his frustration/fear whatever.
